The Rural Crete Observatory is planning the new dynamics of the countryside
The Rural Crete Observatory (RCO) is the result of a partnership between the Region of Crete, the Technical University of Crete and the PLOIGOS Educational-Developmental non profit company, the establishment of which was announced on August 26, 2019 at the Region of Crete. The Observatory is going through its first year of pilot implementation, with the aim of being organized as a flexible, interdisciplinary tool capable of recording and supporting the modern multicenterness of the countryside, proposing a new development role.
The Rural Crete Observatory, within June 2020, will launch an ambitious research entitled “REGISTER – EVALUATION – HIERARCHY OF TRADITIONAL SETTLEMENTS IN RELATION WITH THE EUROPEAN PATH E4. Scientific coordinator of the research is professor Nikos Skoutelis. This is a horizontal action that will highlight new strategies for a new attractiveness of Crete, adapted to the values and meanings of the place, its history and the activities of people throughout the island.
